A fading Bajan heritage: By Alfred D Smith.
Roadtennis, the only indigenous sport of Barbados (and I would even venture to suggest, of the wider Caribbean region as well,) has imbedded within it, a number of unique qualities which, for some strange reason has been generally overlooked by an overwhelming number of our policy makers, down through the years. In many of our communities it has literally, been allowed to fade into extinction with little or no concern displayed for its demise.
The off-stated acknowledgement, that roadtennis is a relatively low cost pastime, which was started by underprivileged young men in what at that time were generally under developed areas of our society, in a small underdeveloped country ought to have been cause for celebration as a positive and elevating accomplishment. This has, for reasons difficult for me to fully grasp, turned out to be viewed as negative, directly contributing to its disregard over the years by many.
The fact that none of our leading scholars has seen it as worth their time to write and publish any literature worthy of drawing the public’s attention to it, at least none of which I am aware, with regards to the history, social Impact and development of this beautiful game among us is to my mind something I view as unfortunate, shortsighted and unacceptable.
It indeed does appear, as though many of our pass policy makers have generally brushed aside, disregarded or for some unstated reason, failed to take an in-depth look at the beneficial social, educational, health, moral, cultural, discipline building and economic potential which reside within this precious gem of a game, just waiting for a chance to be let loose and surge to the fore.
I would like to highly commend the present government for taking the long overdue initiative of putting policies in place to address the exposure of our valuable cultural heritage in the passing of the Cultural Industries Development Bill. I would therefore, now like to join with them and seize this opportunity, which they have made available, to expose the substantial value which can be extracted, mined: if the use of that term may be permitted in this instance, from roadtennis: a natural resource of Barbados.
Presently there are among us an aging number of highly skilled, extremely gifted and intensely dedicated exponents of the fine arts of this amazing game. A few of these we get the opportunity to read about or view on those rare occasions when their exploits are highlighted in various sections of our media. From this we can take some small measure of comfort. The drawback, however, as I think upon it, is that these have all become elitist athletes with natural hard earned skills who have miraculously managed to survived the general neglect to which this game has been subjected.
However, having no designated nursery in place to replenish their aging numbers, our game is left at the fickle mercy of chance. My fear is that roadtennis, as we know it, now occupying fewer and fewer diminishing reservations, if left to itself, literally faces the unthinkable prospect of becoming extinct here in Barbados sometime in the future.
Plan of Action:
1. I am first of all proposing to this government that roadtennis, the only indigenous sport of our tiny but great country, be officially designated the national sport of Barbados.
2. In order to sensitize the general populace of its intrinsic value, I have written a book which I have titled: The story of roadtennis. Both interested adults, junior students and seniors can read this in order to get a much clearer understanding of where this game actually came from; where it is at the present moment and where it can take us if we would only choose to summon the will and the faith in it to put policies in place which would enhance its value, thereby giving it the prestige it requires and deserves.
3. I will be seeking funding for a pilot project in which I will take students: both boys and girls by the way, between the ages of 6 years old until the age when they will leave primary school and personally oversee their training in the various disciplines of this game. My goal in this instance is to show from the ensuing results, that roadtennis can be taught in a safe, structured and scientific way to juniors and rather than hamper their development and ability to learn, will positively enhance it. I will show that roadtennis is such a comprehensive social discipline, that it will elevate their all-round appreciation of themselves, their peers and extend even to those operating outside of their circle of interest, causing them to be appreciative of their significant value and their unlimited potential.
4. As an important aspect of this pilot project I will also endeavor to train some teachers, interested parents and other members of the society how to teach roadtennis in a scientific way to pre-teens.
5. Traditionally, roadtennis has attracted much of its adherents due to its ability to satisfy and bring to the fore their fascination with competing against each other and mastery over an opposing player. While it is not my intention of removing or even sidelining this important, traditional aspect of the game, I will be concentrating the main efforts in my programs on various disciplines which will place the primary emphasis on mastery over oneself. The satisfaction of being better than you were the day before and the basic feeling of wellbeing derived from doing something which is beautiful, well.
6. We will be implementing a concept, of color grading of students as a ranking system, just like in the martial arts, based not only on their ability to win games but on their capacity to play beautiful, disciplined roadtennis and to implement all of its many finer attributes. For example a player will receive added credits for how he or she behaves on and around the court, how he treats his gear and how he treats other players etc.
a. Though roadtennis does not require a great deal of space to be played, it has become increasingly evident that it is no longer practical, reasonable or safe to locate it on our roads as in the past.
b. If roadtennis is to be viewed as having value; a pastime richly embedded with attributes which carry the potential to add worth to an individual; and if roadtennis is to be seen as attractive, then it must then be afforded the dignity necessary to exhibit to our people that that is our opinion. I said all that to say that roadtennis should not be force to take the left overs of other pastimes but should have its own dedicated space.
c. A roadtennis court sits on an area which is 10 feet wide by 21 feet long. It requires approximately 3 feet to the left side of the court and 3 feet to the right. A minimum of 6 feet behind each base line rounds off it requirement for space. What we are looking at is 1 thousand & 56 square feet of playing area for 2 courts side by side. I am of the opinion that this game is well worth the investment.
d. I propose that these courts be built to standards which guarantee the recommended bounce ratio of a purged roadtennis ball. (that is a ball which has received heat treatment to standardize its bounce)
e. Eventually it is my hope, that playing areas will have some form of total or partial covering, so that students will be able to continue their training, even when there is inclement weather around. For now we will be content with what can be made available.
Playing Equipment Requirement:
1. It is virtually unheard of, for the average parent to be able to walk into a hardware store on this island and purchase a roadtennis ball, racket, net or bag in order that they can play roadtennis with a child. Those persons, who could not make their own equipment, invariably encountered a serious hindrance if they wanted to encourage their child to play this game. My initiative will create a need for well-crafted rackets and balls meeting a stipulated standard. Persons who are skilled at building and maintaining acceptable roadtennis facilities will also derive benefits.
2. There are also many other favorable spinoffs and openings which will present themselves if this game is given a chance to flourish among those children at this tender age.
I have believed for a long time that there are a growing number of children who can learn more from play than from the traditional method of instruction which has become the norm. Children who may have difficulty learning to count in the class room will more often than not get pass this problem when they have to keep the score against someone they wish to defeat. An activity such as roadtennis is replete with potential which can be utilized to our advantage. All I ask is that we give RoadTennis a chance, through some policy adjustments in our primary schools.
If roadtennis is to be embraced by the rest of the world it ought first to be appreciated by its own people.
If it is to be indelibly imbedded within our culture it must first begin among our primary schools students.

The Good Friday and Easter myths, which is built upon bold deceptions and subtle inconsistencies. These are quite prominent distortions, happily accepted by the majority of the people, tolerated by those that should know better and kept alive by the majority of church organisations because the lie is more convenient to a liar than the truth. That the Christ of the bible, the truth, was a deceiver is subtly insinuated due to the desire not to rock the boat of popular opinion. Through this the Roman Catholic tradition and her continual influence on her daughters is maintained (The Roman Catholic church is the mother of harlots; those protestant churches that broke away from her since the early 17 century are her children. Many of them still continuing with the tradition of making commercial gain from the trappings of religion.) The teaching that Christ was crucified on Good Friday and rose from the dead on Easter morning is an erroneous teaching subscribed to by most modern churches. This teaching which opposes the Bible teaching that our Lord was crucified on the Jewish preparation day and died around three o’ clock, which is the 9th hour of the day, a few hours before the Jewish Passover as the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world, John chapter 19 verse14 pins down the specific Jewish festival for all to see: And it was the preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour: and he (Governor Pilate,)saith unto the Jews, Behold your King. Christ as he had continually promised, spent three days and three nights dead, that is body, soul and spirit perfectly separated in three different places; his battered body was placed in the new tomb of Joseph of Arimithiah. Jesus was careful to commit his Spirit into the safe keeping of his father’s hands in heaven as Luke in chapter 23 and verse 46 was mindful to inform us: And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit”: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost and his Soul went to hell via paradise as Luke chapter 23 verse 43 confirms: And Jesus said unto him, this making reference to the promise made to one of the thieves hanging on the cross beside him: Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. But you may wonder how can we be so sure that his soul went to hell, that place of torments reserved for the Devil and his angels? Acts chapter 2 verses 24-27 nails it down leaving no doubt when we are told: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Ephesians 4:8-10 summarizes the progression of deliverence: Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Peter 4:6 For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Jesus, the man, after spending 72 hours in the heart of the earth rose from the dead Saturday evening when the end of the Jewish weekly Sabbath drew near.
Some four hundred years, still this book stands supreme;
‘gainst vicious assaults and every devilish scheme.
Surrounded by treachery, from without and within:
it stands between freedom and bondage to sin.
Since out of the dark ages came King James great decree
which angered the pontiff, which set England free;
God’s word was brought down to the man in the street;
through this great book of life the chains fell from our feet.
Now the serpent’s more subtle than any beast ever known.
He’s the king of deception and this world is his throne.
His head may be wounded but his tail packs a sting.
To discredit God’s words in our minds, that’s his thing.
one hundred perversions and each year he brings more;
To poison the water, mislead and obscure.
using man’s love of money, to put darkness for light.
Did you notice, his perversions are all copyright?
From the Garden of Eden he’s fine-tuned his lie,
which tricked eve and broke man and left us to die.
his deception, still deadly, at Christ’s bride now aimed,
the old mother of harlots, religion’s his game.
With her wealth and vast power she traverses sea and land,
to get her distortion of ‘truth’ in our hand.
A few subtle changes a little leaven will do.
A little poison in the water; these fools have no clue.
In institution of learning her great wealth she has used,
to plant her disciples with their devilish views.
They challenge sound doctrine, sounding eloquent and clever.
‘Have God said this old book we must accept it forever?’
If it offends we will change it, scholarship gives us that power.
So like brute beast they rage against God to their sorrow.
He that sitteth in heaven shall send them delusion;
and this same word they opposeth shall cause their confusion.
Some four hundred years still this book stands supreme;
for it is God’s mighty word, not some mortal men’s dream.
Though hell has let loose in subtle opposition;
manuscripts showed up, from Egypt in the Vatican.
Yet the opponents despite all their schemes and their tales;
can’t show us, one prophesy of this book that has failed.
Heaven and earth, they must all pass away;
but this old book, God’s preserved word; will forever prevail.
God only wrote one book. He wrote his unchanging word sealed it with his seven seals and settled it in heaven for all eternity (psalm 119: 89) thus proclaiming that ‘heaven and earth shall pass away but my word shall not pass away’. Then comes along puny man in his sinful arrogance proclaiming that God’s word has become archaic and this out-dated word cannot be relevant for today’s educated sophisticated society. I humbly beg to differ as from day to day I witness our society rapidly deteriorating taking along with it every aspect of that in which man pride himself including the once beautiful and poetic English language. Man has sought license from the principalities and the powers of this world to confuse the foolish, to mislead the feeble minded and by any means necessary silence the faithful in regard to Gods ability to keep his promise of preserving his words forever as he promised in psalm 12: 6 & 7.
Perhaps it is our own fault that we like sheep are so easily deceived, because after realizing that with their scholarship and intellectual prowess they still could not comprehend the unfathomable things contained within the written word of God rather than appeal to the author of the book, who incidentally is the Holy Spirit, for help; they sought out carnal teachers, having itching ears,tell us what we want to hear, to enlighten them and unravel for them the truth and the profound mysteries hidden, way beyond unregenerate man’s ability to grasp, because it is written in a way that they corrupt minds are unable to seize the gems contained therein.
Of course you and I know that while the motive in a small number of cases might be sincere the method pursued is eternally futile because no one was found in heaven or on earth or under the earth that was worthy to loose the seven seals and open this book; no one that is except the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 5: 1-5
But you also know how they felt about the Lamb when he was offered they shouted crucify him, crucify him, we will not have this man ruling and reigning over us, give us Barabbas and Barabbas was and still is a thief. Thus their shouts have echoed down through the ages as they stick their fingers in their ears and turn as it were their faces from him. The shout is becoming even louder and deafening today within the churches as they gather themselves together in large numbers and sing praises to their gods during their magnificent worship rituals in adoration of the spirits they have embraced in this modern day as they cast away God’s word as the final authority on all matters of faith and doctrine.
But why do these modern day heathen continue to rage against God’s living word and imagine a vain thing and those that have set themselves up as authorities endeavour to establish themselves by replacing the word of God with their lifeless counterfeit, copyrighted words of men saying let us break their bands asunder and cast away their chords from us.
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD; thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. The question has God preserved his pure word on earth? Can God preserve his word is a battle field on which we that believe his promise have been losing ground within the last century or so due to the influx of a large number of educated and influential teachers that have crept in unaware easily beguiling worshipers buoyed by the ready availability of technology into the modern churches armed with the claim that their understanding of God from the modern bibles has equipped them with the tools to face the world and conquer. So now the church has moved away from the foolishness of preaching the gospel to saves them that believe, to the contemporary man made wisdom found in psychology to prepare sinful men and women for eternity. Has it worked? I think not.
So is the word of God settled in heaven in the King’s English? Some like to argue that only the original manuscripts were inspired and we all know that these hand written documents did not last very long due to the wear and tear received from frequent use and so they were meticulously copied over and over years after year letter for letter word for word by scribes down through the ages in man’s effort to maintain the integrity of God’s word for future generations. The Old Testament was hand written primarily in Hebrew. Perhaps Greek may have been the language used in heaven because that is the language in which the New Testament for the most part was hand written. I of course am adventurous enough to go out on a limb and declare that God invented a beautiful language called English filled with thees and thous in eternity and wrote the old and New Testament in this language way before the world began hence giving to us the authorized version on which we have depended for the last four hundred years. English by the way is the seventh and final universal language that we have had since the world began and as many of you already know; the last shall be first and the first last.
The English language has become quite corrupt in these modern days but in the early seventeenth century it was the most classical language ever written or spoken by man and the only one ever used for printing the complete bible from the confusion of Babel to this time and that is why the new translations cannot come near to the beautiful poetic strains and the melodic pronouncements found within the King James authorized version of the Holy Bible so much so that even babes are captivated by the enchanting wooing of its simple yet life giving words and are able to commit it to memory long before they can even speak or read.
So now I place before you the Holy Spirit written, eternally preserved, life giving word of God and say believe it and live forever. As in similar manner the wise men and sorcerers of the god of this world also present unto you all his corrupt versions cloaked in the lie, saying there is very little difference their modern perversions. They can also turn water into blood and staffs into serpents but I declare unto you that they cannot make lice or a way for the army of Pharaoh to pass safely through the Red Sea. God’s word can.
It all began with a question. It always does; a seemingly innocent question from someone that from all appearances, seemed to have her interest at heart and who from the position of authority from which he spake appeared to know something that she did not, something that sounded good, beneficial and progressive too her egotistical way of thinking and so began the avalanche of doubt, sin and death.
‘Hath God said’? When you sit back and think about it, it is actually a brilliant Question in its simplicity, subtle suggestiveness and apparent concern for truth, and a loaded question to boot. In road tennis it is the equivalent of a nice slow innocent looking serve that lands in your court, gently lobbing 8 inches away from your baseline line close to the left foot.
This is the question that got the bride of Adam reasoning. Wouldn’t it be really nice to know good and evil, and be considered wise, perhaps like this here serpent? Wouldn’t it be a thrill to be looked up to and be admired by all creation for one’s wisdom? One catholic priest informed me that the Roman Catholic Church has the power of decision as it relates to what is truth, in effect good and evil.
Life is filled with individuals and groups of individuals with apparently harmless, friendly Questions. These questions many times are only intended and designed to lead us down a path of doubt and uncertainty. I would like to get your opinion on the virgin birth usually means I would like to shape your opinion on this critical topic.
Question: ‘Do you believe in once saved always saved’? I know that the label says honey but the content of this jar is deadly snake’s venom so I rest my hand on my sword, the helmet of salvation must always be defended by the sword of the word and I always try to answers this question as sweetly as I can, ‘Yes sir, I believe that salvation is an eternal gift to this sinner from God through Christ’, while drawing my sword. What I have discovered is that while the wolves are prepared to attack a weak, struggling lamb they will usually think twice about a prolong and bloody encounter with a trained soldier.
Whenever they show up at your place of work, recreation or abode, smiling sweetly, well attired, looking confident and pretending to be concerned about your health and wellbeing, rest assured they are only after one thing, your eternal soul. You have one of three choices: Take flight like a whipped dog with your tail between your legs, and most of you, because you are painfully and in most cases unashamedly aware of your spiritual inadequacies take this option. Comforting yourselves with the worn out assurance, ‘I haven’t got any time to waste with those people’.
The other option is submission and co-existence which is another popular choice taken by many. ‘There might be some truth in what they are saying’ While you don’t agree with all they teach and anything they believe you respect them for their tenacity and faithfulness and as long as they leave you alone you have no problem with them. The problem with this approach is that the doctrine of Balaam is so infectious that to be slightly tolerant of it and it’s demand for compromise is to be totally corrupted by it: a little leaven, leveneth the whole lump it is written. 99% pure is not near pure enough The children of Israel found that out the hard way under the carnal hospitality of the nation of Moab and many of you from your wounds and symptoms have also.
Born for war
So now we are left with option three, the only one that have ever worked, put on the whole armour of God and go looking for the fight. I am always looking for a fight. I have no time for enjoying earth’s peace; we soldiers are only trained to fight, we are born for this war. I enjoy fighting, winning skirmishes, attacking the enemy with my only offensive weapon the word of God, and by the way it is sharper than any two edged sword.
Jude said in his single chapter epistle, ‘earnestly contend for the faith’. Jesus was always fighting, he is my hero, Jesus was the ultimate hero and he took on the powerful, established religions and religious leaders of his day. John the Baptist did not sit down and try to negotiate peace terms with Herod, the Pharisees or the Sadducees. There is no possibility or entertainment of the thought of co-existence; Jesus in Mathew 12 verse 30 did non minx his word but cast down the gauntlet when he said, ‘He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad’.
The question that he was asking me was did I have any proof that the 1611 authorized version of the bible was the only provided word of God. His smugness suggested that he felt that he had proof that it wasn’t. What I knew from his question was that although he was quoting from it he could just as easily deny it when it suited him. I find most people are like that, they will use it to support their position but they will deny it when it suites their purposes.
I told him that the intense hate that the Devil and his crowd has for this 400 year old book was sufficient proof that it was the word of God. I hastily informed him that every new perversion that the world brings out, and there have been many since the 1881 failed attempt to revise the 1611 King James authorized version, over 120 and counting, are are compare in their marketing pitch to the despised authorized version just like every new false Messiah that has shown up over the years is compared to the real Messiah Jesus Christ. I told him that without any sponsorship from the world dependent only on the power of the Holy Spirit it is still outselling, out influencing and outlasting all the new perversions.(I have no proof about the outselling part but I said it any way just to make him madder.)
He told me King James was a bloody murderer so that any book that he authorized had to be a book of murderers, and then he quoted a verse from this same despised book to support a point that he wanted to make.
Later that day God call me and asked me, ‘Fred, where art thou?’ I told him ‘Lord, I am fighting a war of faith in this sin cursed world. I am fighting this heated battle with the weapon that you gave me dressed in the armour that you hath graciously provided’. He told me ‘lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world’. I said Amen and now even more energized marched back to the battle front.
Romans chapter 12 verses 1& 2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
For this Year 2011 the leadership of the Ellerton Wesleyan Holiness church has chosen to go forward with using the theme ‘Living the life of Sacrifice’ which theme is built on that of the previous year ‘living the disciplined life’. God’s people, from the beginning of time have been required and at various times down through the years, not only to make sacrifices of one kind or another but believe it or not to be sacrificed; Romans chapter 8 verse 36: As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. So when we are called upon to be sacrificial in our lifestyle, this theme fits in perfectly with our faith as handed down through the years to us.
Many of us, in a detached sort of way, have no problem with this concept of sacrifice provided it be of limited discomfort, within our control and does not significantly impact on our day to day life. However the reality of saints living daily in a hostile, ungodly and to make matters worse religious environment is such that the sacrifice that we would be required to make, to make a difference is often a higher cost than we would chose to pay so compromise is a more preferred choice.
Holding a biblical position on issues that require us to take an unpopular stand instead of drifting with the tide can cause us to end up on the wrong side of popular opinion. While we know that the world and the worldly will resent our stand, the pray is that by the grace of God they will respect us enough not to burn us at the stake or feed us to the lions as was done in the past to thousands of saints.
The Church, as we all should know, began with the most prominent, priceless and potent sacrifice in the history of the human race when Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, was condemned by the Jewish religious crowd and crucified by the Roman rulers on the cross at a place called Calvary; one man laying down his life for the whole world.
Relevance & Efficacy
Sacrifice therefore, has to be taken in the proper perspective in order to understand its relevance and appreciate its efficacy. One of the best ways to do this, I have found, is to view it from the vantage point of bible history.
Bible history states that God made man in his likeness and after his image from the dust of the ground on the sixth day of the week of creation. When, however it was time to get him a help meet, he did not go back to the dust of the ground but instead he went into the body of the man and removed one rib. Because of the giving up, the sacrifice if you please, of this rib we have the crowning off of this glorious day of creation, the coming into being of this most irresistible creature; the woman Eve causing Adam to declare “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” This also allowing God to proclaim that this day’s work was not only good but very good.
This most attractive bride of Adam soon encountered the diabolical attention of the subtle Serpent who was able to trick her into picking and eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that would bring sure death.
Enter the deceiver
The convicting argument that the serpent was able to put forward to Eve, the bride of Adam, when he the flatly suggest that God was less than sincere when he had promised sure death as a result of eating the fruit of this tree in the middle of the garden was at the heart of the deceit that led to this most pivotal event in the history of the human race for she believed him rather than God.
Adam then expecting the worse after she picked the fruit and ate it chose to take on the role of saviour of his dying bride whom he must have loved with an unspeakable love when he casually, deliberately without any temptation ate of the forbidden fruit of sure death and sacrificed the comfort of a perfect and secure environment for that is what The Garden of Eden was at the time. He also sacrificed his lordship of the earth because he was made by God to subdue it and have dominion over the birds of the air and fish of the sea, contrary to popular opinion he also fatally ruined the image and likeness of God in which he was created. Added to that he forfeited his sinless nature for up until that point in time he was a sinless creation, and fourthly he sacrificed the fellowship that he had enjoyed with God. Why? To be with his beloved bride Eve in her time of need.
Jesus the last Adam our merciful, loving Saviour also willingly sacrificed these same four things in order to be the Saviour of the world and to redeem his bride The Church. He left heaven, a perfect environment, made himself of no reputation by taking on human flesh though he was equal with God, became sin for us though he himself could not sin and gave up fellowship with the Father and the Holy Spirit when he was carrying our sin. “My God, My God, why hath thou forsaken me?” Hallelujah! What a saviour!
When God came into the garden in the cool of the day and call Adam he found him and eve cowering in fear, scantily attired in clothing made from fig leaves and in desperate need of the solution to this grave problem in which they found themselves. God’s Justice demanded death for this man because he had promised him death if he ate of the tree in the midst of the garden but his mercy and love demanded a solution. Our all wise God had the solution before the foundation of the world.
Death did come in the form of the innocent animals whose blood was shed as a substitutionary sacrifice and God took the skin and made clothing for Adam and Eve to hide their nakedness showing them mercy before evicting them from the garden and placing a no entry sign in the form of cherubim with a fiery, flaming sword at the entrance.
Early in the history of man we also realised that some sacrifices are acceptable and some are repugnant to God. The two first sons born unto Adam and Eve were not born in the image of God but in the sinful image of their father Adam and were soon aware of their corrupt condition. At a given point in time they were made aware of their need as priests to remedy this situation therefore both decided to go before God presenting sacrifices for sin.
Abel who was a keeper of sheep sacrificed a lamb, probably the best male lamb that he had in the flock and God respected this offering so much that he accepted it and Abel was declared righteous on the basis of this act of faith. So we see this pattern of God borne out in the consistency of the scriptures that continue through the centuries in support of the much railed against bible principal: without the shedding of blood there’s no remission.
Cain who was a tiller of the ground put together the most beautiful array of products from his garden that he could, convinced no doubt that the sheer magnificence of this display supported by the combination of colours and irresistible smells would be so impressive that God would have no choice but to accept it. God, however, rejected it forthwith and boy Cain was mad enough to be tied. He just could not see things God’s way. Well neither does practically all of Adam’s fallen race as we look all around us at the confusion of manmade religious practices or gaze back over the annals of time.
We see Abraham called upon to leave Ur of the Chaldees the land of his birth, his home, his family and all that he had known all his life and go to a land that was promised to him by God where he would become the father of many nations. Then after waiting anxiously for many years for Sarah his wife to bear him the promised heir which she finally bore when she was 90 years old he was then told by God to sacrifice this same son the only begotten of Sarah his beloved wife on Mount Moriah.
Because human and other sacrifices was a common practice among the people of the day to the various acknowledged deities such as Moloch, Baal, Remphem, Ashtoreth and many others. This request was therefore nothing unheard of or out of the ordinary. On the way to this most awful assignment this young man would have grown aware from his father’s demeanour that something out of the ordinary was amiss for he said to him “behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” And Abraham, mighty prophet that he was answered and said,” My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering.” That must have given a spark of comfort to Isaac walking up that incline with that load of wood on his back very much like another young man who would make a similar journey in obedience to his father many years later. Thankfully for Isaac although God did not provide the promised lamb immediately he did provide a ram caught in the thicket for the burnt offering which must have been received with great joy and I do believe a considerable degree of relief.
Another interesting narrative on the history, relevance, details and personal responsibility of sacrifice is that of mosses in his encounters with the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt. All of the gods of the great empire of the Egyptians had been exposed as incompetent frauds and put in their place by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as he rained plague after plague upon the land and people of Egypt for the sake of his people and yet pharaoh’s heart was so hardened that he would not grant them their freedom as was demanded. The stakes are now about to go up as we observe God’s righteous judgement and gracious deliverance of his people.
(a) On the tenth day of Nissan which is about to become the first month of the year for Israel, every household was to take a male lamb. Here we see God solidifying the significance of the male lamb. (b) Of the first year (c) without spot and blemish taken from among the sheep or the goats (d) he was to be kept up, separated and closely observes until the 14th day to make sure that he fulfilled all of the given requirements. (e) On the 14th day of the month the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel were to kill him in the evening (incidentally that same exact date and time was also when Jesus Christ the perfect spotless lamb of God died on the cross of Calvary many centuries later) and they were to (f) drain the blood in a basin take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in this blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they were to eat it. (g) They were to eat the flesh in that night roasted with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs. (h)They were not to eat of him raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roasted with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. (i) Nothing of him was to remain until the morning; (j) and that which remained of him until the morning was to be burned with fire. (k) He was to be eaten with the loins girded up, shoes on feet, staff in hand; and also with a degree of urgency because this was the sacrifice of the LORD’S Passover. (l) No stranger was to eat of it unless he was first circumcised. (m) In one house he was to be eaten; and the flesh was not to be carried forth out of the house but if the house hold was too little for the lamb he could be shared with the household of the next door neighbour if they were not too large. (n) Not one bone of him was to be broken. (o) No one was to go out at the door of his house until the morning.
All these requirements had to be put in place so that the children of Israel could with confidence wait with bated breath until midnight knowing that the Death Angel when he passed over the land of Egypt would spare their first born when he saw the blood of the lamb applied.
Achan the son of Carmi of the tribe of Judah was a soldier under General Joshua in the battle of Jericho and during the plunder of the fallen city he took a number of things which was not lawful for him to possess unknown to anyone and hid them under his tent. In Israel’s next campaign which was against the city of Ai God caused their enemies to prevail and put them to flight because of this. Achan was discovered after a process of elimination to be the cause of Israel’s humiliation at the hands of the enemy and he and his whole family were stoned in order to make things right again.
Judges chapter 11 verses 30 & 31: And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
Jephthah was a mighty general in the days when the judges ruled Israel and every man did that which was right in his own eyes. The nation of Ammon had invaded the land and so he gathered his army together and went off against them. This vow that he made to God was definitely not a casual statement but one he may have thought was of major significance to the outcome of the battle. Unfortunately for Jephthah, his daughter when she heard of his victory was so overjoyed, that she came out in great celebration to meet him on his return home from the battle oblivious to the terrible vow made by her father. I know not who or what he expected would come forth out of his house but it was with great grief when the person was his daughter. He however, being a man of honor, kept his vow which would have been an extremely heart rending ordeal for all concerned as he went ahead and offered his virgin daughter as a burnt offering unto the Lord.
Obedience better than sacrifice
We have King Saul being rebuke by Samuel for not fully carrying out God’s command to utterly destroy Amalek with these immortal words, ‘to obey is better than sacrifice and to harken than the fat of rams’. In his campaign against this idolatrous nation of Amalek he was commanded by god through his prophet Samuel to utterly destroy everything in the city. Instead he spared Agag their king and the choicest of their livestock. His excuse for sparing the livestock was that they were to be use as sacrifice. God did not want the sacrifice of rams and sheep but obedience and faithfulness and that was made painfully clear to King Saul after that.
King David is confronted by the Angel of the Lord with a drawn sword, his sin was he numbered the people of the Lord and causes a plague to fall upon the children of Israel. As the people begin dropping like flies seventy thousand men lay dead. The angel comes to the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite where he and his four sons are there threshing wheat and Ornan sees him and hid himself. The prophet Gad was told by the angel of the Lord to tell David to set up an altar on the threshing floor of Ornan. Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all. And King David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering. And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof. At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
As we look at all these instances of sacrifices made down through the years we see the righteous God presenting sinful man with a vantage point that he may find ways to relate to his justice, holiness, wrath at sin, mercy, power, amazing love and many other attributes through his son our Lord Jesus Christ the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world, our burnt offering, wave offering, meat offering, drink offerings, in short he is the ultimate sacrifice. Every type of sacrifice that we can find in the word of God was a mere foreshadow of what our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did for us at Calvary and for those three days and three nights he descended into the heart of the earth and led captivity captive. The gates of hell could not prevail against him because he had and still has the keys of death and hell and have given us his saints the keys to the kingdom. Mathew chapter 16verses 18 & 19: And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (the rock). And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Each saint as a priest is now required to present to God our bodies as a living sacrifice as he has presented himself in the form of his son for us, conscious always of the fact that we have been given the key to the kingdom by the king of the kingdom and what we bind on earth will be bound in heaven and what we loose on earth will be loose in heaven.

From the beginning of time man has been endeavouring to define God and that, in relation to his own statue: vain man has always wanted to explain God in such a way that his carnal, limited, corrupt mind can somehow measure him and therefore fathom God’s immeasurable, incomprehensible personage and characteristics.
In her pivotal encounter with the wily old serpent the devil in the garden of Eden, Eve stated, casually paraphrasing that which God had actually said as so many with a bit of education tend to do today, that were they to eat of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden or so much as touch it that they were promised sure death by God. It all started with the question to the bride, back then Eve: today the church. What was definitely promised and apparently ignored, the eloquence of innocence or ignorance parading in the robe of knowledge, was that death would come to them that same day as a result of eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
If death did not visit them that same day then God, who deals in perfect justice, perfect truth and never mixes words would have been setting a serious legal, moral and credibility precedent that the enemies of truth and righteousness would have pounced upon with the ferocity of a hungry Bajan on a bowl of pudding and souse and a large ice cold glass of mauby.
Never a whisper came from the lurking detractors because they know that God has kept every single promise he made to the letter and within the boundary of the spirit. But some of you are saying they did not die that same said day. As a matter of fact Adam lived to be 930 years and begat sons and daughters according as it is written.
Because man only has the ability to see that which is physical, tangible if I can use that word, much of what is happening around us actually goes unnoticed, we remain unaware of the all the activities of the unseen world going on beyond human view. This however is seen by the principalities and powers that, invisible to Adam’s cursed offspring; do exist in the spirit world, which incidentally is the real world concealed from the natural eyes.
But why is it that man cannot see, is not conscious of this world? If this world is such a positive reality why is it that mankind who will occasionally confess to ‘feeling’ things in his spirit not have the ability to see them?
The reason is that the day that Adam ate of that forbidden fruit his spirit died immediately as God explicitly promised that he would and all his descendants henceforth came into this world spiritually handicapped, deaf, blind, dumb, dead spiritually. So in effect we were born lugging along through time with a dead spirit. Adam lost the ability to see any other world but Satan’s vain, sin cursed, condemned one and we, Adams direct descendants inherited this fallen state by virtue of being his natural offspring. Satan wants this state of affairs to remain a secret, a mystery to as many of us as he can keep blind because it works in his diabolical favour but if we walk by faith in the eternal unchangeable word of God it will work in our favour.
You might of course want to counter my bold unpopular statement by proposing that even if man’s spirit died on that day his soul did not but consider this. Death, in its true form is a separation. Two entities aligned with each other become disconnected. The body, for all intent and purpose, without the spirit, that is the breath of life, is dead even though its existence still continues and by that same principal the soul without Christ and infected by Adam’s inherited sin is also dead. Man’s soul, therefore, also died on the day that Adam ate of the forbidden fruit and the separation from God was so utterly terrifying that he ran and hid himself in the garden, that same place which before had been such a place of peace, instantly becoming conscious of his embarrassing, dreadful nakedness, hitherto unknown.
So now we come around to the body of man because physically man lived on for over 9 centuries. So that then gives council for the accuser an apparently sound case. Sound, that is, until we see the bloody skins of those slain animals in the hands of God being sewed together in order to cover the nakedness and the sin of Adam and eve. So there was also physical death in the garden that day, only it was a legal substitution on the grounds that the lamb of God, God’s only begotten son, slain from the foundation of the world had taken the place of the guilty as long as they agreed to the ‘bloody contract,’ and history shows that they did.
The 1611 concept of God is that he has never broken a promise. I unreservedly promote and adhere to this concept.
When Thomas Nelson, the unseen forces behind the lochman foundation, the International Bible society and the many other shadowy organisations decided that there was need for them to rewrite the bible in order for unspiritual, unregenerate man to understand it they had to negate a number of principals. 1st is Matthew 24 verse 35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 2nd is Matthew 5 verse 18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 3rd that God has promised explicitly to preserve his word Psalm 12 verse 6 & 7: The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD; thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
They were so conscious and against this powerful promise that in all of their perversions they have changed this important portion of God’s word in their perversions to say that God will protect poor people instead of his word. I am not sure if they are suggesting that God is keeping people poor and protecting them or if he is protecting them from getting out of their poverty but that is what these fools have tampered with. 4th and most frightening thing they ignore is the promise that if any man add to God’s word that plagues in the word of God will be attached to those persons and if anyone is evil enough, for it takes an evil person to do this, to take away from the word of God his part will be taking out of the book of life. The exact words are…
“Revelation 22 verses 18-20 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
So God’s promise to protect his word in its entirety, for all eternity, from the tampering of the enemies is the foundational part of the 1611 concept of the bible.
In the 1611 concept there is no ‘twilight zone’ when it comes to salvation. One is either saved and a child of God or lost and a child of the devil, full stop. These filthy dreamers that presented the unsuspecting world with the 1881 revised version have decided that a conversionary period was needful in order to protect God from frauds like themselves and what did they do. They made salvation a drawn out process: 1st Corinthians: 1 verse 18 in the perversions states: for the ‘message’ of the cross is to them that are ‘perishing’ foolishness but to us that are ‘being saved’ it is the power of God. So what happens if you are hit by a bus while you are in this process of being saved? Then you would end up perishing I suppose. This 1811 concept sets salvation up as a reward for faithfulness, allegiance, worship and such like. In effect people are kept so busy ‘being saved’ that they have no time or inclination to carry out the great commission which commands us to go out into all the world and preach the gospel of Christ which is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes.
The 1611 concept of salvation is that it is a gift of God wholly dependant on the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ and necessitated by our inability to please God in any way without faith in his every word not even by our most righteous work. Ephesians 2 verses 8, 9 & 10: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
The 1881 concept is that man and the world is the centre of Gods universe with God in heaven craving man’s adoration and worship.
The 1611 concept is that God is the centre, of our universe, pre-eminent the only potentate, and we are humbled and amazed that he would even take a second glance at us far less take an active part in our vain affairs, and because he humbled himself, stooped way down in order to consider us we can say like John in his epistle, we love him because he first loved us. Psalm 8 verses 3 & 4: When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Historically, the most brilliant religious scholars of this world have always without exception been wrong when it came to things spiritual. The reason why these worldly wise scholars have always been so consistently unable to get it right is because the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. 1st Corinthians 1 verse 20: Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
Some might want to put forth the argument that the wise men that came seeking Jesus at his birth, they at least got it right. Howbeit if they had gotten it right thousands of young children that were slaughtered by the soldiers of Herod would have been spared, Matthew 2 verse 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. These wise men would have gone, like those unlearned shepherds straight to the inn in Bethlehem. Instead rather than follow the star all the way they followed their intellect at a critical part of their expedition and ended up miles off course, same as the scholars have been doing from the beginning of time even to this day. These unimpressive, unassuming shepherds on the other hand just left their sheep to the care of God and followed the heavenly instructions received from the angels and found their way to the son of God without incident or diversion.
Follow the simple instruction given in the solid word of God and one cannot go wrong is another principal of the 1611 concept.
Now just in case some of you are of the opinion that position in life, wealth or pedigree had any impact on this concept in the past take a just below the surface look at this passage in Luke 3 verses1 &2: Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. What an indictment when we consider that the same situation prevails today.
The word of God has never had regard or respect for earthly rank, class, political, religious, or social standing. God’s man must be called and sent by the Holy Spirit in order for his work to have any impact upon this sin cursed world. The 1611 concept deals in principal not sentiment.
God has been so consistent through time that there definitely is no reason to believe that he will change at any time. He will continue to preserve his word, keep his promises, confound the wise, call the lost to eternal life, resist the proud and surprise us when we think we know all that there is to know.
Hellfire & brimstone preaching was one of the hall marks of the ministry of Christ while he travelled up and down the cities and villages of Palestine during his earthly ministry. The truth, however, has never been popular among Adams race historically and this aspect of the truth especially, has had to endure a great deal of disapproval, ridicule, and even denial within the scholarly community. God’s thoughts on justice are alien to the worlds way of thinking and hell is about justice.
But why would the average scholarly preacher find it so difficult to accept the reality of an eternal hell that will someday be cast with all of its devilish, evil, corrupt, abominable content into the eternal lake of fire where there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth ?
Revelation 20 verse 10-15: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The reason, my dear friend this eternal concept of hell is not accepted is because the average student preacher, coming out of the average modern bible school, does not have or know anything about the 1611 concept of the word of God. They have it programmed into them that as a matter of course that there is no difference between the two diametrically opposed concepts. They are told over and over again until they accept it that that both came from the same manuscript and very few ever take the time to try to find out that they are being lied to by the subtle one. John 8 verse 43-45: Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
The first thing that happens to these young unsuspecting, enthusiastic boys and girls is that they are taken through a process of disarmament where they have the sword of the Lord, which is the Holy Spirit Inspired WORD OF GOD, exchange for one of the numerous copyrighted counterfeits coming off of the 1881Westcot and Hort Vatican funded perversions. Yes sirs they are systematically disarmed, neutered, castrated, begging your pardon for using these obscene terminologies.
I once had one of these preachers suggest to me that it is these highly educated scholars who are the most qualified to make judgements, decisions as regards to what is reliable and truthful in our book, not the author of the book the Holy Spirit or us ignorant uneducated men of God. Nevertheless, I beg to differ because I said it before and I will say it again and again till I am heard; historically those religious scholars have never been right. Jesus had no uses for them, neither did John the Baptist and neither do I.
